Director Greta Gerwig recently released a trailer for *Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew*, an adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ sixth novel produced by Netflix. Although Gerwig has made little public comment, she stated she was inspired by 1960s-era David Bowie but confirmed the film will not be a musical. The trailer features music from "Stairway to Heaven" and presents a psychedelic visual style.

The story follows Digory Kirke and his neighbor Polly Plummer, who are tricked by Digory’s eccentric uncle into trying on magic rings. This leads them on a journey where they accidentally unleash the evil empress Jadis from a sleeping spell, causing chaos. The film shifts the setting from the original 1900s to postwar London in the 1950s.

The cast includes David McKenna as Digory, Beatrice Campbell as Polly, Daniel Craig as Andrew Ketterley, and Emma Mackey as Jadis. Meryl Streep voices Aslan, while Carey Mulligan plays Digory’s mother. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2027, followed by a Netflix streaming release on April 2, 2027. Gerwig holds a two-picture deal for the series and may adapt the first book next.
