Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco is facing criticism from fellow performers who claim his new SiriusXM channel harms emerging talent. His Comedy Radio replaced the station’s Raw Comedy channel, which previously featured a diverse pool of over 800 comics. The new show is curated and headlined by Maniscalco himself, according to the satellite radio provider.

Stand Up for Standup, a nonprofit organization, released a report stating that since March, spins on Maniscalco’s channels have dropped from more than 800 artists to just 275. The organization says this narrower pool is skewed toward celebrities and favors the top few performers. Patton Oswalt noted in an Instagram video that many up-and-coming comedians rely on royalties from SiriusXM, with 500 of them reportedly removed from the station.

SiriusXM stated that Maniscalco’s channel introduced a new creative direction and regularly evolving programming mix. The company added that it continues to invest in comedians more than any other audio platform. Neither SiriusXM nor representatives for Maniscalco immediately responded to requests for comment.
