German utility provider SWK Energie has launched a new electricity plan called meinGAMING, which targets households with high energy consumption. The company markets itself by comparing its reliability to "your favorite server" and using influencer campaigns featuring streamers like Limcube. However, the service does not provide special power that improves gaming performance or increases frames per second. Instead, it is designed for homes running multiple high-end devices, such as four RTX 5090 gaming PCs or charging four electric vehicles simultaneously every day.

According to the company’s FAQ, this plan is recommended only for households consuming over 2,500 kWh annually due to gaming, streaming, or general device usage. Although SWK Energie claims the tariff is cheaper than competitors, it has a higher base price and does not recommend the service for users below that threshold. The specific rates vary by location, so potential customers are advised to compare their current costs with this new offer before switching.

The article notes that many companies target gamers in marketing, often promising performance benefits that may be exaggerated or simply rely on attractive branding. While some gamer-focused products offer genuine improvements, others are criticized for high prices and "gamer tax." Even government agencies have adopted similar strategies; the U.S. Army has targeted gamers in recruitment, the FAA’s last hiring campaign focused on gamers and achieved 94% of its goal, and the Royal Navy hosts gaming PCs for sailors. SWK Energie states its power is 100% renewable, though how it verifies this remains unclear.
