A browser-based game called Taipei GTA has attracted 1.2 million concurrent players in just three days, according to Taiwan TV news reports. Developed by AICodeWith using $10,000 worth of tokens, the free online game allows users to explore zones based on famous Taipei areas like Ximending and Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Players can experience a free-roaming environment featuring neon signage, night markets, and various city elements similar to the GTA series, though it uses low-poly models and simple lighting.

The game is hosted on the Vercel cloud platform and includes 93 missions for a more structured experience. While developers have not made an official announcement, they are currently asking the community about future development directions through media reports. The project serves as a demo for the AICodeWith unified developer platform, which provides access to multiple AI models including DeepSeek and Qwen via prepaid tokens.

Performance tests indicate the game runs smoothly even on devices with integrated graphics, achieving over 100 frames per second on a laptop’s Radeon 890M processor. Mark Tyson of Tom’s Hardware noted that while the visual style resembles early-2000s retrogaming, the gameplay offers a distinct environment compared to titles like San Andreas. The game remains under development and is available at https://taipei-gta.vercel.app/.
